Dr. Elena Christofides is the founder of Endocrinology Associates and a leading medical researcher on metabolism, diabetes, and related medical processes. Her extensive research and patient work have made her a prominent figure in the medical community, and she takes an outsized role in mentorship, customized holistic medical treatments, and new clinical research. She also provides patients with expert care for a wide range of endocrine issues, including obesity, fatigue, hormone irregularities, pituitary and adrenal disorders, and more.

Dr. Christofides earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from The Ohio State University. She then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine from Mount Carmel Medical Center, and she finished a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Louisiana State University Medical Center. She is a physician with the rare distinction of holding two active board certifications, with one in Endocrinology and the other in Internal Medicine.

Professionally, she has made a name for herself as a key industry leader. In addition to understanding the field of endocrinology, Dr. Christofides has also displayed a proven track record in business analysis, marketing, strategy, and implementation of clinical trial development. She has helped guide or run dozens of clinical studies for leading research teams including Pfizer, Novo-Nordisk, AbbVie, and more. She also designed and led enrollment to help a Chinese pharmaceutical company develop their first clinical trials for a biosimilar insulin.

She has authored dozens of research articles and worked as an editor and reviewer for almost a half dozen different prestigious journals, including Reproductive HealthEndocrinology and Diabetes, and Women’s Health. She currently serves as an editor with her own podcast for MedCentral, a provider and patient0facing educational platform.

She also actively teaches and lectures — Dr. Christofides has helped train new doctors and technicians, regularly presents new research, and has served as a guest speaker for various conferences and symposiums.

A true medical servant at heart, Elena spends her time outside of work creating educational materials and contributing to patient advocacy. For instance, she wrote a book titled Living with Hypoparathyroidism and created her educational video series Shop with the Doc, which won a Silver Medal in the prestigious Telly Awards.
